Ogunquit Police

Message From Chief Rubino

On behalf of the men and women of the Ogunquit Police Department, thank you for visiting our World Wide Website.

The Ogunquit Police Department is committed to providing quality service and employs a community based policing philosophy. Our “policing concepts” are designed to address the many needs of our community and mirror our mission statement.

The name Ogunquit means ” Beautiful Place By the Sea” and as a result, offers a variety of law enforcement challenges.  Our community is a quiet, peaceful New England town in the winter months. Our population in the winter numbers only a few thousand people. However, in the summer, we become a bustling tourist destination. Our community is located on the southern coast of Maine and offers the finest in lodging and eating establishments. Ogunquit is also home to a number of specialty shops. These businesses offer many unique items for those wishing to shop. Additionally, we have miles of beautiful beach and one of the most attractive coastal walkways on the eastern seaboard. As a result, our summer population swells to an estimated daily average of 75,000 to 80,000 people.

As you might imagine, our police force must change in concert with our population. We must be prepared to meet the increased service demands that come with an increase in population. We are challenged by issues related to parking and traffic management, crowd management and utilize efficient means to insure the safe and effective “movement” of our residents and guest.

Our department provides for a wide variety of service offerings. Some of these offerings are unique to Ogunquit, having been developed to meet the specific needs of our community. Please take a moment to read about our programs. Feel free to contact us if you have questions or comments.

Again, thank you for visiting us on the Web. Please fill out our feedback form and stop in to see us when you are in our community.
